Email and text sign-ups
When you subscribe to the daily briefing we store your email address. If you tick "Text me updates" we also store your mobile number and the fact that you agreed to receive texts, together with the version of the consent wording you saw.
With each sign-up we also record the time, which form you used, the page you were on, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. We keep this to prove consent and to stop abuse (for example, automated sign-ups).
- Where it is kept: in a private file on our web host that is not publicly accessible.
- What we use it for: sending the briefing you asked for and, only if you opted in, text updates. We do not sell or rent your information.
- Texts are optional: consent to texts is not a condition of subscribing. Message and data rates may apply. Once text alerts launch, you won't need to do anything special to opt out: our AI/SI will automatically remove you from text alerts as soon as you reply STOP (or any similar word like unsubscribe or cancel). Reply HELP and it will send you help and contact info.
- Stopping email: every briefing will include an unsubscribe link.
- Deleting your data: send a request with the form below and AI/SI automatically removes your data and deletes your sign-up record. No one does it by hand.
Correction requests
When you submit a correction request, we store what you send (your name and email if you give them, the correction and any sources) along with your IP address and browser's user-agent string, to review the request and stop abuse. It is kept in a private file on our web host and is never published.
